ECMO Polytrauma Project

Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is an advanced life support technique used in patients with severe respiratory or heart failure , when conventional therapies are not sufficient.

The Polytrauma ECMO Project is a multicenter, prospective study designed to evaluate the impact of Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) in patients with polytrauma who have required ECMO support.

This study seeks to systematically measure these sequelae to understand the magnitude of the impact of PICS in this specific population .

This study represents a key step in improving the approach to polytrauma patients undergoing ECMO, allowing for the adjustment of treatment, rehabilitation and long-term follow-up protocols .
